Thunderstorms Halt Second Round of Irish Creek Collegiate

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – Thunderstorms in the Kannapolis area caused competition at the Irish Creek Collegiate to be suspended until Sunday, April 10. After the first round of play was completed, inclement weather caused a delay at the start of the second round. Play resumed for a short period of time before being suspended due to the threat of heavy thunderstorms.
Play is set to resume Sunday at 8:15 a.m.
Results from the first round of play are official, while the scores submitted for the incomplete second round are unofficial. After 18 holes of competition, Mercer was tied for 11th place in the 13-team field. As a team, Mercer booked a team score of 303 in the first round.
Junior Josh Cone and sophomore Matt Kocolowski each fired 75's in the first round while sophomore Thomas Holmes posted a 76. Freshman Hans Reimers booked a 77 and junior John Gregory Joseph turned in a 78.
