MACON, Ga. – Coming off a 1-1 road trip in South Carolina last weekend, the Mercer women's soccer team returns home on Friday night to take on Alabama A&M before heading back out to take on Alabama in Tuscaloosa on Sunday afternoon.
The Bears host Alabama A&M at 7 p.m. on Friday night at Bear Field and will look to improve upon its 2-1-1 overall record. Head Coach Tony Economopoulos has his new team playing well and just this week added a new player to his roster. Auburn transfer Tess Patton will make her debut on Friday night as she looks to add depth at the Bears' forward position.
The Bears have a quick turn around after Friday's match to head west to take on SEC power Alabama on Sunday afternoon. The Bears and Crimson Tide get underway at 2 p.m. eastern on Sunday.
Scouting the Opposition

Last Time Out
CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Mercer women's soccer team wrapped up a weekend road trip in South Carolina in impressive fashion last Saturday, taking a 2-0 shutout victory over Charleston Southern.
Goals by sophomore Brianna Stampler and senior Danielle Hesse paced the Bears (2-1-1) in the team's second win of the season. The goals were the first of the season for each player and were a nice rebound for the team coming off a 2-0 loss against South Carolina on Thursday night.
Game Notes
- Sophomore midfielder Lauren Gassie has gotten off to a wonderful start in 2012. Gassie leads the team with six total points and is tied for third overall in the A-Sun in points on the strength of her two goals and two assists.
