Mercer in Sixth after Day One at Ram Masters Invitational

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – After grinding through 36 holes of play, the Mercer men's golf team sits in sixth place after day one of the Ram Masters Invitational at the Fort Collins Country Club.
The field of 15 schools from around the country was paced by Nevada who put together rounds of 282 and 284 for a combined score of 566.
Mercer tallied rounds of 293 and 290 to finish with a combined score of 583, two strokes behind fifth-place Weber State and an impressive eight strokes clear of seventh-place Northern Colorado.
Redshirt senior John Gregory Joseph paced the Bears by firing a 142 (73-69) to jump into a four-way tie for fourth place individually in the tournament.
Freshman Jeffrey Heinicka, Jr. also shot well for the Orange and Black on day one, putting up a combined score of 146 (71-75) to place in a tie for 24th individually.
Mercer wraps up play in Fort Collins tomorrow morning with a final 18-holes of action set to begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. MST.
