MIAMI, Fla. – The Mercer women's golf team stands in seventh place in the Hurricane Invitational after Monday's play was suspended in the second round due to darkness. Sophomore Sara Louie Brown leads the Bears individually in a tie for 16th place individually.
As a team, Mercer shot 299 in the opening round of play and was slotted third in the 15-team field. After partial completion of the second round, Mercer's team mark of +38 is one stroke behind Minnesota and 11 strokes ahead of Campbell. Texas State (+17) leads the tournament while Baylor (+21) and Oklahoma State (+28) are second and third, respectively.
Brown shot 73 in the first round and is four-over par in the second round. Junior Mary Alice Murphy fired a 76 in the first round and is also four-over par in the second round. Junior Lacey Fears booked a 77 and is five-over in the second round.
Senior Aurelie Wiriath shot 73 in the first round and is 12-over in the second round, while her classmate Kaitlin Marrin shot 83 and is 10 over.
The second round will resume Tuesday at 8 a.m.
