Men's Tennis Loses at #63 Samford

MACON, Ga. – One day after losing in Auburn, the Mercer men's tennis team traveled to Birmingham, Ala. to face the 63rd ranked Samford Bulldogs on Monday and lost 5-1, dropping the Bears to 1-6 on the season.

This competition marks the fourth of the season against a nationally ranked team. Auburn, Florida State, and Arkansas are also ranked, all of which beat the Bears.

In singles play, success on the side of the Bears was few and far between. Oliver Snaider saw early success in the first set with a 6-5 win, but then lost two straight. Arnav Mohanty, Anderson Scarpa, Manuel de Luis, and Arnav Mohanty were all beaten by the 1-0 Bulldogs. The lone victory came from Austin Emmet, who defeated Henry Moore soundly (6-1, 6-3).

The Bears also came up unsuccessful in doubles play, the only win coming with Arnav and Arsav Mohanty defeating Fares Kilani and Austin 6-4.

The Mercer men's tennis team is back in action on Saturday, where they will travel to Conway, SC to face the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers.
