
Volleyball Defeated by ETSU, 3-1

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Freshman Emily Krogman and junior Molly Locke combined for 24 kills as the Mercer volleyball team fell 3-1 (25-16, 25-15, 19-25, 25-13) to East Tennessee State on Saturday at Brooks Gym.
Mercer fell to 5-15 (4-3 SoCon) while ETSU improved to 10-13 (4-3 SoCon).
Krogman's season-high 12 kills came on 28 swing with only three errors, while Locke paired 14 digs with her 12 kills for her 11th double-double of the year. As a team, the Bears were limited to .077 hitting, with 23 errors on 130 total attempts.
Sophomore Hannah noon tallied 28 assists, seven digs, two service aces and three block-assists in the losing effort.
After dropping the first two sets, the Bears roared out to an 11-5 lead in the third set on the heels of a 7-2 surge. Mercer would eventually go ahead by as many as nine in the frame before winning 25-19.
The Bucs responded in the fourth set, using an 11-3 run to take a commanding 19-11 lead. The Bears battled to gain ground, but couldn't close the gap and fell 25-13.
Mercer resumes SoCon play at Wofford on Oct. 22. Match time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
