
Men's Soccer Defeats North Florida, 2-1

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's soccer team wrapped up regular season play with a 2-1 victory over North Florida on Monday night at Bear Field.
Mercer improved to 13-6 overall and tied the program record for single-season win total. Mercer also tallied 13 wins during the 2001 season. North Florida moved to 5-6-1 on the season.
Between the pipes, Greg Ranjitsingh tallied a career-high 12 saves.
The Bears went up 1-0 in the 12th minute off a penalty kick from Max Poore. Mercer's lead increased to 2-0 less than a minute later when a North Florida defender knocked the ball in their own goal while trying to stop a cross.
North Florida scored in the 69th minute and put the score at 2-1 when Bayley Cashion sailed the ball into the back of the net from 30 yards out.
North Florida outshot Mercer, 21-9, and won the corner kick count, 6-1.
Next up, Mercer will play in the Southern Conference semifinals on Nov. 13 in Greensboro, N.C. at 5 p.m. The Bears will face the winner of the match between UNCG and ETSU.
