
Women's Tennis Falls 6-1 to Campbell

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Mercer women's team tennis came up on the short end of a 6-1 decision Saturday afternoon, falling to Campbell as the Bears played their second match in as many days.
Mercer had a chance to earn the first point of the day when Haley Powell and Natalie Franklin emerged with an 8-4 victory at No. 3 doubles, but the Camels picked up wins in the remaining matches to earn the doubles point.
Campbell quickly put the match away with victories in five of the six singles matches to earn a 6-1 win, as Lucie Payrat was the only Mercer player to earn a victory when she knocked off Ana Maria Ortiz 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 singles.
The Bears return to action Tuesday, March 4, traveling to take on Jacksonville State. First serve against the Gamecocks is set for noon.
