
Men's Golf Ties for Fifth at Linger Longer

EATONTON, Ga. – Junior Trey Rule recorded Mercer's top finish in a return to his hometown as the Bears wrapped up competition in the Linger Longer Invitational on Sunday afternoon. Rule's three-round total of 216 placed him in a tie for 15th individually while the Bears closed the event in a tie for fifth.
Mercer shot 309 on Sunday and finished the tournament with a three-day score of 874. The effort equaled that of Liberty and left the Bears just four strokes behind Clemson. Georgia captured the team title at 837.
Rule, who returns to his native stomping grounds of Eatonton, registered 13 birdies and an eagle on his way to his fourth top-20 finish of the season. His rounds of 67 and 73 preceded a Sunday 76 and saw him outplay 69 competitors.
Senior James Beale and freshman Emmanuel Kountakis each tied for 19th place with tournament totals of 217. Beale shot 71 and 69 on Saturday before posting a 77 on Sunday. Kountakis has the Bears' low round (75) on Sunday and also show 69 and 73 on Saturday.
Mercer is back in action on April 4 when it takes part in the Mason Rudolph Championship hosted by Vanderbilt University.
