
Women's Tennis Falls To Georgia Southern, 5-2

STATESBORO, Ga. – The Mercer women's tennis team fell 5-2 to Georgia Southern on Saturday afternoon at the Wallis Tennis Center.
The Bears won the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead in the match, but the Eagles quickly tied things up at 1-1 after taking the first singles point.
Haley Powell defeated Georgia Southern's Daria Vaskekina (6-2, 6-3) to pick up Mercer's second point of the day and put the Bears up 2-1. Georgia Southern won the final four singles matches to win, 5-2.
Next up, Mercer will host Savannah State on February 12 to open up the home slate of the 2015 season. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center.
