
Men's Soccer Ties Furman, 1-1

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Mercer University men's soccer team finished the regular season with a 1-1 tie at Furman on Saturday night.
TURNING POINT
Will Bagrou put the Bears up 1-0 in the 33rd minute after Jordan Duru sent the ball to Max Poore, who played it on, and Bagrou finished from less than six yards out. Furman knotted the match late in the game after a corner kick, as Kevin Pahl sent the ball to the top left corner of the net. Neither team was able to score in the extra 20 minutes of play.
MAN OF THE MATCH
Jeremy Booth made eight saves and allowed just the one goal in 110 minutes of play.
STAT OF THE GAME
Furman led Mercer, 16-7, in shots, including a 9-2 shots on goal advantage.
NOTABLES
- Will Bagrou scored his fifth goal of the season and the 17th of his career, while tallying two shots for the Bears. Bagrou is now tied for ninth on Mercer's career goals top-10 list.
- Jordan Duru dished out his fifth assist of the year, while Max Poore notched his first of the season.
- Jake Mezei led the Bears with three shots, including one on goal.
- Jeremy Booth's eight saves is the second-most the junior has made this year and the most against a SoCon opponent.
- Furman also led Mercer, 7-4, in corner kicks.
- Both of Mercer's matches with Furman required double overtime this season.
RECORDS UPDATE
Mercer moves to 10-6-2 (5-3-2 SoCon), while Furman finishes the regular season at 7-5-4 (6-2-2 SoCon).
UP NEXT
Mercer earned the third seed in the Southern Conference Tournament and will host No. 6 VMI on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 8:00 p.m. at Bear Field.
