
Men's Golf Finishes 12th at Mason Rudolph Championship

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The Mercer University men's golf team closed out the Mason Rudolph Championship on Sunday afternoon, finishing in 12th place for the tournament after putting together a team score of 309 in today's final round.
The Bears wrapped up the event with a total score of 913, finishing one stroke in front of Ball State and three ahead of Indiana. No. 6 Vanderbilt took home the team title with a score of 846, while No. 15 Georgia Tech and Alabama rounded out the top three.
Senior Trey Rule moved up eight spots in the final round of action, leading the team with a 2-over-par 73 to place 40th overall with a three-round total of 224. Emmanuel Kountakis carded a 6-over 79 on Sunday, to push his weekend total to 227 and move into a tie for 49th place.
Sean Smothers finished 51st overall after scores of 74, 74 and 80, while Jerry Ren fired a 77 for the team's second highest score this afternoon en route to a tournament total of 238. Jeffrey Heinicka, Jr. rounded out the Bears in action, carding an 81 on Sunday to compile a three-day score of 241.
Mercer returns to action later this month, when it competes in the Southern Conference Championships on April 19-21 at the National Golf Club in Pinehurst, N.C.
