MACON, Ga. – Winners rise to the occasion in clutch situations. That is what happened in Macon Tuesday as Mercer's top three golfers combined for 2-under-par to help lead the Bears to the team title at the inaugural Idle Hour Collegiate Championship.
Mercer (+33) finished with a two-stroke advantage over Southern Miss and Toledo, who tied as runners-up at 35-over-par. That finish was led by Marin Hanna and Hannah Mae Deems posting top-five finishes as the Bears were the only team in the field with two golfers to finish in the top five.
MERCER SCORECARD
MERCER ON THE TEAM LEADERBOARD
At the top! Mercer finished the 54-hole tournament in first place with a two-stroke margin, the team's first title this season. The Bears withstood challenges from Southern Miss, Toledo and Troy throughout the course of the day and did not falter, even when trailing and down five spots to sixth midway through Tuesday's action. Credit the trio of Marin Hanna, Hannah Mae Deems and Terese Romeo as they combined to finish 2-under-par over the final three holes while Southern Miss (+1), Toledo (+2) and Troy (+2) all were over par on those three holes from their top three golfers.
MERCER ON THE INDIVIDUAL LEADERBOARD

COACH DRINKARD'S THOUGHTS:
"I am so proud of our team. Winning the tournament today is a great reflection of the hard work, effort and energy they have put into their game and gives us momentum going into the spring. They performed at a level they knew they had in them and were rewarded for it. I am just so proud of what they achieved over the last two days."
