
Mercer in First, Two in Top Five Entering Final Round at Amelia Island

AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. – Mercer's women's golf team carded a 2-under-par second round Monday – the best round to date for the tournament – and two Bears are in the top five on the individual leaderboard as the first day of competition at the JU Amelia Island Collegiate drew to a close Monday.
Hannah Mae Deems (-2) and Lauren Lightfritz (E) are third and fourth, respectively, with one round left to play.
The Bears finished the day leading the field in par-3 scoring (-2) and with a tournament-best 116 pars carded. Deems and Lightfritz finished the day with 1-under-par average on par-4 holes, tied for second best among the field.

At the top! Mercer (+7) enters Tuesday's final round with a three-stroke lead over Campbell (+10) with Daytona State (+13) nearby in third. SoCon foe Samford is ninth at 30-over-par while in-state foe Georgia Southern (+34) is 11th. Another in-state foe, Georgia State (+25), is fifth, just one stroke shy of fourth-place Cincinnati (+24).
