MERCER SPOTLIGHT
Junior Justin Connelly got his tournament off to a great start, as he heads into the final day of the on pace for the first Top-15 finish of his career. Connelly had 31 holes of par or better on Monday, helping push him up the leaderboard from 21st after the opening round to 12th at the end of first day.
THE BEARS IN THE TEAM STANDINGS
Mercer rebounded from a 15-over 303 in the opening round of action, trimming 12 shots in the second round en route to a 3-over 291. The Bears head into the final round just five strokes out of a Top-10 finish in an event that is led by No. 1 Auburn.
COACH KAYDEN'S TAKE
"We got off to a rough start in the opening round and had to count some high scores and that dug us a hold. The guys made a nice comeback in the second round though, which was good to see. Justin (Connelly) had a great day, playing solid golf throughout all the 36 holes from his No. 3 spot. We just haven't been consistent enough one through five, so we need to figure out a way to make those 78's become 75's when you aren't swinging it as well. The guys will get there and we're playing a lot of young guys, so they are progressing every day."
