MERCER SPOTLIGHT
Bogdanovich turned in the best round of his young Mercer career on Sunday, shooting a career-best 2-under 70 to lead the Orange and Black on Sunday. The Suwanee, Ga., native was exceptional on the front nine, posting four birdies while playing bogey-free golf. Bogdanovich currently is in a tie for 14th place through the first day of play.
COACH KAYDEN'S TAKE
"We got off to a really good start today. We made a bunch of biridies to start the round and the guys were ready to play, which was really encouraging to see. We couldn't quite sustain the strong start throughout the round but overall I was pleased with the way the team played. The wind picked up as the round went on and that made it more difficult but the guys handled it well. We are not where we need to be yet but the team is making strides and continuing to get better."
MERCER NOTABLES
- The Bears totaled 21 birdies and an eagle on Sunday. Each of the five golfers totaled at least four birdies in the opening round.
- Connelly recorded Mercer's eagle, holing out from around 50 yards out on hole No. 9, a 392-yard par four.
