
Mercer Completes Day Two of Linger Longer Invitational

GREENSBORO, Ga. – The Mercer University men's golf team finished the second round of the Linger Longer Invitational on Monday at the Great Waters Golf Club in Greensboro, Ga. Through two rounds of play the Bears are in 12th place.

THE BEARS IN THE TEAM STANDINGS
Mercer's second round 314 (26-over) placed the team in 12th with a total score of 607 (31-over) in a stacked Linger Longer Invitational field. The Bears enter the final round of action with an 11 stroke lead over South Alabama. No. 12 Alabama (9-under) leads the field, while No. 21 Virginia (6-under) and No. 39 Augusta (4-under) round out the top three.
MERCER SPOTLIGHT
Ren was Mercer's best golfer on the day, as the sophomore shot a 75 for a score of 3-over. Ren finished his round on a high note, carding birdies on two of his final four holes. The Auckland, New Zealand native recorded an even par 36 on the back nine. Ren leads Mercer through two rounds with a total score of 147 (3-over).
COACH KAYDEN'S TAKE
"The guys got off to a slow start and we were never able to recover. We just need to move on tomorrow and forget about today's round and focus all of our energy and effort on tomorrow's final round so we can end on a good note. I'm confident that the guys can make a positive turnaround for the final round."
MERCER NOTABLES
- The Bears totaled seven birdies on Tuesday, four coming from Ren.
- Ren is tied for ninth on scoring average on par fives through two rounds with a mark of 4.50. The sophomore has recorded five birdies through eight par fives at the invite.
