
Mercer Finishes Final Round of Play at Linger Longer Invitational

GREENSBORO, Ga. – The Mercer University men's golf team wrapped up play at the Linger Longer Invitational on Tuesday at the Great Waters Golf Club in Greensboro, Ga. The Bears finished in 12th place with a final score of 914 (50-over) over the three rounds.

THE BEARS IN THE TEAM STANDINGS
Mercer's third round score of 307 (19-over) gave the Bears a 12th place finish with a total score of 914 (50-over) over the three-round Linger Longer Invitational. The Bears concluded the event with a nine stroke edge over South Alabama. No. 12 Alabama (12-under) took home the title, while No. 39 Augusta (9-under) and No. 2 Georgia (9-under) shared second place.
MERCER SPOTLIGHT
In the final day of play the Bears were led by freshman Brennan Bogdanovich. The Suwanee, Ga., native carded a team-best 2-over 74 to pace Mercer. The freshman finished with his best three-round performance of his young collegiate career, posting a final score of 224 (8-over) at the invitational. Bogdanovich posted Mercer's best score on two of the three rounds.

"I like the way Brennan [Bogdanovich] and Jerry [Ren] finished out their round today. Those two were able to finish strong and that is encouraging to see from young players. We need to quickly refocus our attention to the Furman Intercollegiate this upcoming weekend."
MERCER NOTABLES
- Ren tallied the best score for the Bears at the invite with a 223 (7-over).
- The Bears totaled 12 birdies on Tuesday, including a team-high four from Ren. The Orange and Black finished the Linger Longer Invitational with 40 birdies and one eagle.
- Ren played the par fives exceptionally well over the three rounds, finishing tied for fifth on scoring average on par fives with a mark of 4.42. The sophomore recorded birdies on 8-of-12 par fives at the invite.

Mercer has a quick turnaround, as the team is back in action at the Furman Intercollegiate this weekend at the Furman University Golf Club in Greenville, N.C. The first of three rounds will take place on Friday, March 25.
