Women's Tennis Grabs 5-2 Win Over Bethune-Cookman

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Mercer University women's tennis team ended the weekend with a 5-2 win over Bethune-Cookman on Saturday afternoon.
Bethune-Cookman won the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead in the match, but Katie Sidor's 6-0, 6-0 win on court four tied the score at 1-1. Katia Stravroulaki picked up a 6-4, 6-0 win at flight one to put the Bears up 2-1 overall.
Grace Korta made it 3-1 in Mercer's favor with her 6-4, 6-2 win at flight three before Haley Powell clinched the match for the Bears with a three-set victory on court five. After dropping her first set, Powell won the second to force a third set, which she also won.
Xandra Fougner also won her three-set match on court two and Roxy Bartz fell in three sets to wrap up play.
Next up, Mercer will face Kennesaw State on Wednesday, March 2 at 10:30 a.m. in Kennesaw. The match was rescheduled from its original date due to inclement weather.
