FORT MEYERS, Fla. – For the second straight day Mercer suffered a pair of 3-2 losses against North Florida and Florida Gulf Coast in Fort Myers on Saturday. The Bears are now 6-8 on the season.
MATCH NO. 1 VS. NORTH FLORIDA
Like Friday's meeting, the match between Mercer and North Florida was highly contested.
The Bears were victorious in three sets at the No. 1 position, as Tori Penrod and Emily Krogman won by a score of 21-18, 19-21, 15-12.
The Orange and Black lost at the No. 2 and 3 spots in straight sets but the Mercer No. 4 pair of Morgan MacGilvary and Demi-Shay Watchorn won fairly easy by a final of 21-17, 21-13. However it was not enough, as Mercer fell at No. 5 in two sets to give the Ospreys the win.
Mercer is now 1-10 against North Florida in the all-time series.

Last season's No. 1 pair of Penrod and Emma Peel were reunited at the top position and the duo impressed, claiming a straight-set 21-12, 22-20 triumph. Mercer's new No. 2 pairing of Krogman and Sophie Peel also performed well, winning by a score of 21-16, 21-13.
The Bears were agonizingly close to pulling out a win but fell at the No. 3, 4 and 5 spots in three sets. The Orange and Black won the first set in two of the three matches but were unable to pull out the victories.
Mercer is 5-6 against FGCU in the all-time series.
