Women's Tennis Edges ULM, 4-3

FT. WALTON BEACH, Fla. – The Mercer University women's tennis edged ULM, 4-3, on Tuesday afternoon, handing the Warhawks their second straight loss this season.
Mercer won the doubles point with victories at flights one and three to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
Katia Stravroulaki won her match in three sets (6-0, 4-6, 6-0) to increase Mercer's lead to 2-0, before ULM won its first point of the day with a win at flight five.
Grace Korta tipped Mercer's lead to 3-1 with her 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 win at flight three, becoming the second Mercer player of the day to play three sets. A pair of Warhawk wins at flights six and four, both three-set matches, knotted the score at 3-3 for the match.
Xandra Fougner also forced a third set in her match after falling 4-6 in the first set and winning the second set 6-4. Fougner was down 4-5 in the third set, in what was also a team match point, when she rallied to win 7-6 (7-2) and clinch the match for the Bears.
Last season, ULM defeated Mercer 4-0 in Ft. Walton Beach. The Warhawks were also ranked No. 72 this season for the week of Feb. 23.
Next up, Mercer will host Evansville on Thursday, March 10 at 2:30 p.m. at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center.
