Mercer Wraps Up Weekend at Irish Creek Intercollegiate

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – The Mercer University men's golf team played the final round at the Irish Creek Intercollegiate at The Club at Irish Creek in North Carolina on Sunday. The Bears turned in a score of 303 (+19) in the 18 holes.

THE BEARS IN THE TEAM STANDINGS
Mercer's final score of 928 (76-over) places the team in 16th place in the Irish Creek Intercollegiate field. The Bears shot their best round of the weekend on Sunday, carding a 303 for the day. No. 14 Wake Forest took the tournament title with a three round total of 855 (3-over). Kennesaw State finished second with a 7-over 859.
MERCER SPOTLIGHT
Two Mercer competitors tied for the best round of the day, as Ren and Rule each turned in a score of 74 (3-over) on the day. Ren carded a 37 on both the front and back nine while Rule had a 35 at the turn and then posted a 39 on the back nine. Both Ren and Rule made two birdies in their final round.
COACH KAYDEN'S TAKE
"The guys played hard today and were able to improve from the first day. Jerry Ren and Hayes Rule had solid rounds for us today. We just need to continue to work at it and get better each day. Attitude and effort will be important for our program's advancement."
UP NEXT
The Bears have next weekend off as the team readies itself for the Southern Conference Championships that take place in Pinehurst, N.C., from April 24-26. The SoCon Tournament will be played at Pinehurst #9.
