SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Mercer University women's tennis team played its final match of the regular season, a 4-3 loss to Wofford, on Friday afternoon.
Wofford took a 1-0 lead in the match after winning the doubles point. Katia Stravroulaki and Xandra Fougner won at flights one and two, respectively, to put the Bears up 2-1 overall.
Wofford knotted the score, 2-2, with a singles win at flight three, but Liza Klyachkin gave Mercer a 3-2 advantage after winning 6-3, 6-1 at flight six. Wofford was able to pick up wins at flights four and five to clinch the match, 4-3.
Next up, Mercer will compete in the Southern Conference Tournament in Chattanooga, Tenn., starting on April 22.
