Mercer Tennis Adds Three Signees

MACON, Ga. – Mercer University tennis coach Eric Hayes has added three players to the 2016 signing classes, all of whom will join the teams as freshmen in August.

"With these signees, I feel both teams finally have the depth to compete for championships," said Hayes. "Taking the job here so late my first year, we were not able to bring in a class that year. We are ready to go this year."

Andreea Peteu, a Bucharest, Romania, native joins the women's team after graduating from Inspiration Academy in Bradenton, Fla. Peteu has played in the prestigious Eddie Herr International Junior Invitational as well as numerous other ITF professional events worldwide. She is currently ranked in the Top 30 among juniors in Romania.

Philip Johnston comes to Mercer from Memphis, Tenn. He is a four-star recruit and is ranked 151 nationally, while at one time earning a No. 1 ranking in Tennessee. Johnston has been ranked as high at 28th in the USTA Southern rankings.

Olivier Stuart, who will also join the men's team, is from Guermantes, France. He is currently ranked 0 in French national rankings and is a member of the French National team that finished as a runner up in the European Championships. Stuart was the French National Champion when he was 12 years old.

Peteu, Johnston and Stuart join the four signees that were announced in May.
