Mercer Announces Fall Tennis Schedule, Men To Play in Puerto Rico

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's and women's tennis teams have announced their 2016 fall schedules, which are highlighted by a trip to Puerto Rico for the men's team and the Roberta Allison Classic for the women's team.

The men's team will start the fall season at the Palmas Del Mar Tournament in Puerto Rico, which will take place Sept. 9-11. Mercer will be joined in Puerto Rico by four teams that all finished the 2016 season ranked in the top 50 in the ITA national rankings – No. 7 Georgia, No. 18 Illinois, No. 26 Florida State and No. 46 N.C. State.

Both the Mercer men and women will participate in the UTC Fall Classic in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Sept. 30-Oct. 1. The Bears will then host the Mercer Gridiron Classic Oct. 7-9 and the tournament will feature 10 men's and 10 women's teams from all over the southeast.

The women's team has been invited to play in the Roberta Allison Classic at Alabama, one of the oldest women's collegiate tournaments in the country. The Roberta Allison Classic will be Oct. 28-30 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Mercer will conclude the fall season at the ITA Regionals Oct. 20-24, with the men competing in Auburn, Alabama, and the women in Gainesville, Florida. Invitations to the ITA Regionals are based on fall performance.
