Lightfritz Impressive in Collegiate Debut, Leads Mercer Women

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Lauren Lightfritz didn't let her first collegiate appearance faze her. The true freshman carded a 1-under-par round and is tied for third on the individual leaderboard as Mercer began play in the 2016-17 season at the Golfweek Program Challenge.

The challenging par-71; 6,042-yard course at the Caledonia Golf and Fish Club left only seven golfers with even-par or better rounds Sunday. At 1-under-par, Lightfritz is just two strokes from Boston College's Ailin Li, the individual leader.

All four of Mercer's scoring golfers are in the top 35 after one round of play.

MERCER IN THE TEAM STANDINGS
Overall Boston College sits atop the team leaderboard at 1-under-par while Campbell and Jacksonville State are tied for second at 6-over-par. Mercer is in fifth at 16-over-par, just one stroke back of Morehead State and one stroke ahead of Jacksonville.
