Mercer trailed, 10-5, headed into the fifth inning when the Bears scored 10 runs on eight hits to jump ahead of Hartford. Then it was a matter of continuing to score to hold off the Hawks.
The Bears took advantage of eight walks and three batters hit by a pitch in the game, scoring the 20 runs off only 17 hits. The hot bats included a total of four home runs by Mercer including the two by Truitt.
PLAYER OF THE GAME
While plenty of players posted plenty of big numbers, Trey Truitt gets the nod after a 3-for-3 performance with two walks, scoring five runs, three RBIs and blasting two home runs.
