MACON, Ga. – Charlie Madden and Trey Truitt combined for eight hits and four RBIs but Mercer could not overcome an early deficit, dropping its first home contest of the year in an 8-6 decision to Bradley at OrthoGeorgia Park Sunday.
The visiting Braves (4-8) scored all eight runs over the first three innings while Mercer (13-4), which scored all of its runs in the second and third innings, put runners in scoring position in three of the final six innings but fell short of completing the rally.
PLAYER OF THE GAME
Charlie Madden knew how to put the bat on the ball Sunday. The Bears catcher was 4-for-5 with 12 total bases as he slugged two home runs and two doubles. His one non-hit? A fly out that carried deep in to left field territory.
STAT OF THE GAME
All 14 runs in the game were plated in the first three innings. Both teams threatened at various points throughout the game but no runs were pushed across after the third inning.
