Mercer Falls to UNF in ASUN Elimination Match

Record-setting campaign ends at ASUN Tournament
DELAND, Fla. – A program-best campaign ended Sunday afternoon as Mercer was defeated by North Florida, 5-0, in an elimination match on the second day of the ASUN Beach Volleyball Tournament.
Three Mercer pairings pushed their matches to three sets but could not prevail against the No. 4 –seed Ospreys, who advance to the tournament semifinals to face No. 3 FGCU. Mercer, which entered the tournament as the No. 2 seed, ends its season with a 15-12 record after going 1-2 in DeLand this weekend.
Tori Penrod and Emily Krogman lost their first ASUN Tournament match in the last two years with a straight-sets defeat at the No. 1 seed. Penrod, Emma Peel, Demi-Shay Watchorn and Gretja Otten all saw their collegiate volleyball careers conclude Sunday as well.

PAIR OF THE MATCH
After an eight-point loss in the opening set, the Peel sisters battled back with a 21-18 win in the second before falling in a hard-fought 20-18 third. The sibling duo ended the 2017 ASUN Tournament with a 1-2 record.
