Terese Romeo finishes tied for sixth place individually
BATON ROUGE, La. – Mercer impressed with a fifth-place finish after shooting a 16-over-par 304 in the final round of the LSU Tiger Golf Classic on Sunday at the University Club.

The Bears (+63) finished only behind the 12-team field's four nationally-ranked programs as junior Terese Romeo shot two-under-par (70) over the final 18 holes to earn a tie for sixth place individually. Three Bears in total placed inside the top 25 individually.

Mercer bested seven teams – including Southern Conference foe Chattanooga (+73) as it finished fifth overall behind champion and host LSU (+38), Houston (+40), Virginia (+53) and NC State (+53). All four teams that placed ahead of Mercer are top-50 programs nationally.

Terese Romeo rounded out a well-fought tournament with her best round of the weekend on Sunday, shooting two-under-par to jump six spots into a tie for sixth individually. Romeo finished ahead of four nationally ranked golfers as she birdied No. 2, 9 and 17.

Payton Schanen (+17) and Hannah Mae Deems (+18) finished tied for 22nd and 25th, respectively.

Mercer turns its focus to its final regular season tournament of the 2017-18 season, the Brickyard Collegiate. The Bears will host the event at Brickyard at Riverside on April 8-10.
