Kate Leone Named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer attacker Kate Leone was named the Southern Conference Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week (Feb. 27- March 5) for her performances against Gardner-Webb and Davidson, as announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.

Leone notched a season-high five goals against both teams, giving her 10 of her team-high 15 goals scored in the past weekend. Her offensive prowess helped the Bears (2-3) win their first pair of games this season.

The senior from White Plains, N.Y. was named to the 2018 Preseason All-SoCon Team. The senior leads the Bears in goals (15, shots on goal percentage (.893) and is tied for most points in the season (18). Leone is currently 4-4 (1.000) on FPG for the season, going 2-2 this past weekend.

Leone and the Bears are back in action this weekend as they host Presbyterian at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 11.
