Mercer battles elements in second tournament of fall slate

TOLEDO, Ohio – Sophomore Tyler Copp shot 7-over-par (220) to tie for 14th individually while Mercer placed 12th overall (+66, 918) at the Inverness Intercollegiate at Inverness Club.

Mercer and the 12-team field played the final six holes of the second round before shifting focus to the third round; the Bears shot 301-311-306 over the 54-hole tournament.

Coach Kayden's Take
"It was a tough week for our team and we learned a lot about ourselves," said head coach Kirk Kayden. "We didn't respond well to difficult playing conditions and we'll need to be better in the future at adapting on the go.

"I'm proud of Tyler Copp's efforts through two tournaments this fall; it is impressive to see him starting the season this strong as a sophomore."
