Mercer women’s golf tied for fourth after 18 holes

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Mercer Women's Golf turned in a solid round one at the Cardinal Cup, turning in a 297 to tie for fourth after 18 holes Friday at the University of Louisville Golf Club.

The Bears are sandwiched between a couple of ranked teams in No. 20 Kentucky (3^rd) and No. 42 Louisville (T4^th) after braving the cold course conditions. Payton Schanen and Laila Hrindova led the group, both shooting a one-over 73 as the frost thawed – followed closely by Carol Pyon's two-over 74.

Mercer is paired with No. 42 Louisville and Wisconsin for day two of the tournament Saturday. Lightfritz, Rodriguez, Pyon, Schanen and Hrindova will all get started on the 10^th hole at 8:50, 9:00, 9:10, 9:20 and 9:30, respectively.
