Plukka ties for third at four-under
KENNESAW, Ga. – Martin Plukka finished in a tie for third to lead Mercer into the clubhouse as the Bears finished third of 11 teams at the Pinetree Intercollegiate hosted by Kennesaw State Tuesday.
Â
The Bears wrapped up their 2019 fall season at the tournament, turning in a 20-over 884 and finishing just six strokes off the lead. Plukka was one of four players that finished under par through 54 holes after carding a four-under 212 – tying with 77th-ranked Connor Futrell of Troy.

Coach Kayden's Take
"Our guys had a pretty rough start on the front nine and got behind early in the final round. We battled back to get back into first place with about five or six holes to go, but just couldn't quite hold on today. We had some guys that struggled and just couldn't get it together today. We're confident that it's going to be a learning experience for them, but we'll be in a better position to come away with the win next time.
Â
I'm very proud of Martin Plukka's top five finish, the best of his career. There were only four guys under par at the tournament and he was one of them. It was a very good week for Martin. Tyler (Copp) came through for us in these windy conditions on a long golf course today. So I'm proud of his efforts, as well."
