Bears will host Georgia State before a day trip to Georgia Southern

MACON, Ga. – Mercer will clash with a pair of in-state opponents this week when it hosts Georgia State on Tuesday and makes a day trip to Statesboro, Ga. to face Georgia Southern on Wednesday.

First pitch for Tuesday's game against the Panthers is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET; the game was originally scheduled for 6 p.m., but was moved up due to expected cold conditions in the Middle Georgia area. Wednesday's game at Georgia Southern is scheduled for a 6 p.m. first pitch.

Batting Practice

Mercer is 8-4 overall after suffering a weekend sweep at No. 11 Florida State.
Tuesday will be Mercer's ninth home game in 13 overall contests this season.
Beau Healy is projected to make his third start on the mound this season on Tuesday. The Bears are 2-0 when Healy makes the start.
Sophomore shortstop RJ Yeager ranks among national leaders with six home runs (fifth), 16 RBI (24th) and 38 total bases (11th).
The Bears are hitting a collective .306 and are led by Kyle Dockus (.367), who has 18 hits this season.

Scouting Georgia State
The Panthers have lost five in a row after a 3-3 start to the season, suffering mid-week losses to Georgia Tech and a weekend sweep at the hands of Southern Conference foe Samford. Georgia State is hitting a collective .241 and is led by Griffin Cheney (.406, 10 runs).

Left-hander Tyler Koch (0-0, 24.00 ERA) is expected to make his first start on the mound this season against the Bears. He has pitched three innings over three appearances.

Scouting Georgia Southern
The Eagles are 4-6 overall and are coming off a series-finale win against Georgia on Sunday. Georgia Southern has yet to win a weekend series, facing a tough opposing slate of Auburn, West Virginia and Georgia so far. The Eagles, who are hitting .201, picked up an 8-0 mid-week win at College of Charleston last Tuesday. Their pitching staff has been stout, owning a 3.18 ERA and .209 opposing batting average against.
