
Mercer Women Take Runner-Up Finish at UNF Collegiate

Karina Kukkonen earns fifth-place individual finish
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Mercer women's golf team shot a third-round 298 and a 10-over-par 874 for the tournament to earn runner-up honors at the UNF Collegiate at the Jacksonville Golf and Country Club on Tuesday.

Three Bears earned top-10 individual finishes, including Karina Kukkonen, who shot 2-under-par over 54 holes to take fifth place. It is Mercer's second runner-up finish in as many tournaments played this spring.

Mercer on Team Leaderboard
The Bears finished three shots off team champion and tournament host North Florida, which shot 7-over-par 871 to take the title. Mercer finished one shot ahead of Delaware, which entered the final round in the lead of the 17-team field.

Mercer on Individual Scoreboard
Kukkonen (-2), Lauren Lightfritz (+2) and Mary Janiga (+3) finished fifth, tied for eighth and tied for 10th, respectively, in the individual standings. The three Bears led the way all tournament and shot 73, 75 and 74, respectively, on Tuesday.
