Bears will play 54 holes at Pinehurst No. 9 on Sunday-Tuesday

PINEHURST, N.C. – The Mercer men's golf team will play in the 2019 Southern Conference Championship over the next three days at Pinehurst No. 9.

The three-day, 54-hole tournament will determine the conference's top team as well as its automatic qualifier to the NCAA Championship. Five Bears will represent Mercer, including a pair of seniors in Stanton Schorr and Brennan Bogdanovich.

The Bears currently rank 107th in Golfstat's national rankings, good for fourth-best in the SoCon. Mercer owns six top-10 finishes this season and is led by Schorr, who has five top-10 individual finishes himself.

COACH KAYDEN'S TAKE
"Our guys will be ready to play in Pinehurst as they've had a good week of practice heading into the championship," said head coach Kirk Kayden. "Three of our starters have played in previous years at Pinehurst No. 9, so they'll help our preparation in the practice round on Saturday.

"We will need a total team effort to get the job done and play with high-level confidence. I'm confident in our team to hit shots on the course that they are committed to; that's an important aspect of playing good golf."
