SoCon Sports Media Player of the Year will join Enea AZS Poznan in Poland
MACON, GA. – Former Mercer women's basketball star KeKe Calloway will continue her basketball playing career, as she has signed to play professionally with Enea AZS in Poznań, Poland.
Â
"I'm extremely blessed and thankful to have the opportunity to continue playing the game of basketball," Calloway said. "I'm very excited to be a part of the AZS Poznań family and I can't wait to experience all that Poland has to offer."
Â
The 5-9 guard from Forsyth, Ga., led Mercer with 18 points per game in her senior campaign, which helped propel the Bears to their fourth consecutive SoCon Championship and a near upset of second-seeded Iowa in the first round of the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship.
Â
"From the very first time I met KeKe at Mary Persons High School, we discussed her dreams and goals and she adamantly wanted to go pro," Mercer head women's basketball coach Susie Gardner said. "There has not been another player that I have coached at Mercer that has spent more time in the gym working on her game. So, for her to live her lifelong dream is exciting for her, her family and obviously Mercer."
Â
One of the more prolific scorers in Mercer history, Calloway finished her career with the school's career three-pointers made (298) record and ranked eighth all-time with 1,811 points in her four seasons. She was named the SoCon Sports Media Association Player of the Year and to the All-SoCon First Team at the conclusion of the season.
Â
Enea AZS Poznań plays in the Basket Liga Kobiet – the highest competition in Poland. Founded in 1929, the 12-team league is the first and highest-tier level of Polish women's basketball. Calloway is set to join the club on August 15.
