Matt Hassan, Warren May join Mercer football staff for 2019 season
MACON, Ga. – Mercer football head coach Bobby Lamb announced a pair of hires on his support staff on Monday, welcoming Matt Hassan and Warren May to the Bears Family.
Â
Hassan has been hired as Coordinator of Football Operations and May has been hired as Coordinator of Creative Services for the upcoming 2019 season.
Â
"We're thrilled to have Matt and Warren join our Mercer football family," Lamb said. "Both have quality experience coming from Auburn and Troy, respectively, and will bring new ideas to the table and play big roles off the field for our organization."
Â
Hassan joined the Bears' staff after a three-year stint with Auburn's football staff, where he served as a defensive analyst for the 2018 season and as an operations assistant from 2016-18. Prior to Auburn, Hassan spent two seasons on the coaching staff at Concordia University Chicago, working with the running backs in 2014 and tutoring linebackers in 2015, as well as coordinating academics, video and social media. He was additionally the running backs coach at Alma College in 2013.
Â
Hassan was one of 30 participants selected for the 2014 NCAA/AFCA Future Football Coaches Academy and is a Bronze Certified Coach through the National Coaches Education Program. Hassan ranks second among career rushers at North Park University in Chicago, where he was a two-year captain, three-time offensive MVP and an All-CCIW running back in 2011 and 2012. He was vice-president of the North Park Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and received the CCIW Merle Chapman Leadership Award.
Â
May is a 2017 graduate from Troy, where he spent three seasons as an operations and recruiting analyst on the Trojans' football staff. In May's three seasons on the Trojans' staff, Troy won three of four consecutive bowl games and 31 overall victories.
