On November 1, 1941, a little over a month before the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor and the United States joined World War II, Mercer and Presbyterian met on the gridiron and the Bears emerged with a 19-12 victory over the Blue Hose. Fast forward nearly 80 years and the two teams will play each other for the first time since that day.
Â

Quick Hits
- Saturday's game was scheduled this past Monday after PC's originally-scheduled season opener at Stetson was cancelled last week due to Hurricane Dorian. This marks the second straight year that Presbyterian and Stetson were forced to cancel a game due to a hurricane (Hurricane Florence in 2018).
- The two teams have not played since before the Bears' 70-plus year hiatus from football, but played 14 times from 1927 to 1941.
- Mercer rushed for 212 yards in the season-opener after eclipsing the total three times in 2018 - the Bears are 24-5 all-time under Bobby Lamb when rushing for 200 yards.
- Senior linebacker Will Coneway enters the game needing just three tackles (217) to tie former teammate Lemarkus Bailey (220) for third all-time in career total tackles in school history.
- Coach Bobby Lamb has played the Blue Hose three times in his career (all while coaching at Furman) and won all three contests.
