Mercer travels to Tallahassee to take on Florida A&M
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer baseball team hits the road for the first time during the 2020 season on Tuesday and Wednesday when it travels to Tallahassee to face Florida A&M. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. on Tuesday and 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

Projected Rotations:
Florida A&M enters the 2020 season predicted to finished second in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). The Rattlers open the season on Monday when they host South Florida.

Florida A&M received three first-place votes and garnered 98 points to earn the second spot. They also landed six players, four first team, on the all-conference preseason team. Starting pitcher Kyle Coleman, catcher Tucker Rayburn, third baseman Octavien Moyer and utility player Jared Weber were named to the All-MEAC Preseason First Team, while relief pitcher Jeremiah McCollum and outfielder Seyjuan Lawrence were tabbed to the second team.

Last season, the Rattlers were led by Octavien Moyer, who returns for his senior season. He started all 61 games last year and was the only Rattler to hit over .300 on the season. He hit a team-high six home runs and drove in 27 runs.

On the mound, Florida A&M returns Kyle Coleman, who started 17 games last season. He led the team with 99 and 2/3 innings pitched and had an ERA of 3.52. He struck out 81 on the season. As a staff, Florida A&M had a team ERA of 5.52 and stuck out 367 batters.

- The two game series in Tallahassee against the Rattlers will be the Bears first road games this season. Last season, the Bears went 11-14 on the road.
- The Bears hold a 90-30-1 record all-time against the Rattles. Last season, the Bears went 3-0 against Florida A&M.
- This road trip to Tallahassee is the first of two road trips for the Bears in the month of February. The second road trip of the month will be to Statesboro, Ga.
- Over the opening weekend, Mercer recorded 40 strikeouts and only walked four batters. With a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 10.00, the Bears own third best mark in all of NCAA Baseball. Â
- The Bears hit four home runs over the first three games of the season. They are averaging 1.33 home runs per game, which ranks 26th in the nation.
- Florida A&M is the second MEAC program Mercer will face this season. The first came this past weekend against Maryland-Eastern Shore.
- Mercer is one of just four NCAA Division I programs to win at least 35 games in each of the past 10 seasons, joining LSU, Florida State and Vanderbilt.
- The Bears were picked to finish third in the Southern Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll. Mercer tallied one first place vote and 51 points.
- Le Bassett was the only Bear to earn First Team Preseason All-SoCon honors. He earned his spot as a DH. Angelo DiSpigna, RJ Yeager and Collin Price were named to the second team.
