Bears Drop Heartbreaker in Chattanooga

Shannon Titus (20 Pts./11 Reb.) and Summer Pahl (14 Pts./10 Reb.) record double-doubles against the Mocs
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Mercer women's basketball team dropped a heartbreaking 58-52 decision against Chattanooga on Thursday evening at McKenzie Arena.

Shannon Titus and Summer Pahl became the second pair of Bears teammates to both record a double-double in the same game this season. Titus posted game highs in points (20), rebounds (11), blocks (4) and steals (3), while Pahl finished with a career high 14 points and 10 rebounds. Pahl was the Bears' most efficient shooter on the evening as she was a perfect 5-of-5 from the floor and 4-of-4 from the free throw line.
How It Happened
The Bears fell in an early 5-0 hole to start the game but quickly went on a 13-3 run to take the lead. The two sides battled back-and-forth until a 10-0 run by the Mocs put the home side ahead, 27-19, with 3:47 left in the first half.

Despite trailing at halftime, Mercer clawed its way back even with the home team with an 8-0 run in the middle of the third quarter to tie the game at 39 apiece.

Mercer scored seven-of-the-last-10 points of the third quarter and used a 15-6 run to gain a 50-45 advantage with 6:34 on the clock. Chattanooga took control for the remainder of the game, however, as the home side closed out the game on a 13-2 run to collect their sixth win in the last seven games.
Player of the Game
Titus continued her stellar play in the month of February with her fifth double-double of the season. The Johns Creek, Ga., native recorded game highs in points (20), rebounds (11), blocks (4) and steals (3). It was her third 20-point performance of the season and seventh game with at least 10 rebounds.
