
Knight Earns Second Team All-CPL Honors

Bill Knight earned second team honors for his performances over the 2020 summer season
MACON, Ga. – Over the summer of 2020, Mercer Bear Bill Knight put together a summer to remember for the Savannah Bananas. Knight was named to the Second Team All-Coastal Plain League on Friday.

"I am happy and excited to see what Bill accomplished and how he has progressed this summer playing in the Coastal Plains League for Savannah," head coach Craig Gibson said. "We are looking forward to seeing big things from him with the Bears as he will play a big part in the success of the program moving forward."

The Perkins, Ga. native appeared in 24 games this summer for the Bananas and finished in the top-10 in multiple offensive categories. He ranked sixth in the Coastal Plain League for at-bats (96) and hits (32). He was seventh in the league in RBI (24), ninth in total bases (51) and hit by pitch (4) and 10th in home runs (4).

He hit .333 on the season with 32 hits, ten of which were extra-base hits. In a 10-6 loss to the Macon Bacon on July 31, Knight went 2-for-4 at the plate, with a pair of solo home runs. He had a season-high three hits against the Bacon on July 24 when Savannah came away with a 19-15 win.
