Mercer continues homestand with Blazers on Sunday

MACON, Ga. – The seven game-long homestand continues with Mercer meeting UAB on Sunday in Hawkins Arena.

Christmas Game
Sunday's game will feature a festive celebration with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus. They will be available for pictures in the concourse and kids will be invited on the court with them at halftime. Also, an ugly sweater contest will take place with the winner taking home a gift card to Amici.

Last Time Out
Mercer fell short to UCF last Sunday in Hawkins Arena by a 61-47 scoreline. Erin Houpt led the Bears with 17 points, 15 of which came from the 3-point line.

Series History
The Bears and UAB will meet for the ninth time in series history, with it deadlocked at 4-4. Last December, Amoria Neal-Tysor's 33 points – 14 of which came from the charity stripe - pushed Mercer past the host Blazers by a 71-68 win in overtime. UAB has taken three of the last four after Mercer took three of the first four. This will also be the first tilt between these two in Hawkins Arena.

New Season, New Bears
There will be plenty of new faces at Hawkins Arena for the 2021-22 season, as Mercer welcomes eight new student-athletes – Kinley Fisher, Endia Banks, Erin Houpt, Erin Gutierrez, Kassidy Jones, Nigeria Harkless, Ashlee Locke and Lauren McNamara-Clement – to campus.

Scouting the Blazers
UAB comes into the matchup with a 6-3 mark, having just beaten Arkansas Pine Bluff by an 89-64 margin and alternated wins and losses in their last four. Two of their nine contests have come against SoCon opposition: a 67-52 win over Chattanooga and a 77-68 setback to Samford on the road.
