Shannon Titus averaged 24.5 points and 12.0 rebounds in a pair of wins over Wofford
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer senior Shannon Titus was named the Southern Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, presented by GEICO, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
Â
Titus earned her second weekly honors from the conference and first this season. Her other recognition came on Jan. 29, 2019 during her sophomore campaign.
Â
Titus led the Bears to a pair of thrilling victories over Wofford last weekend, averaging 24.5 points and 12.0 rebounds per game. The Johns Creek, Ga., native went for 22 points and a career-high 15 rebounds in Friday's game against the Terriers for her first 20/15 double-double. It was the 10th double-double of her career. She went off for 27 points in Sunday's double-overtime thriller to match her season high while adding nine rebounds, four steals and three assists.
Â
The Bears have won nine of their last 10 games and boast an 8-3 record at Hawkins Arena this season. They are set to close out the regular season this weekend with a potential SoCon Championship preview on Thursday against Samford as the two top teams in the conference battle for the No. 1 seed in the tournament. Mercer will then travel to Johnson City, Tenn., to face ETSU at noon on Saturday in its regular season finale. Tickets for Thursday's game are only $1 and can be purchased here.
Â
Fans who are unable to attend Thursday's game are able to watch the game on ESPN+ or listen to the game on 100.9 The Creek or SportsMic with the Voice of the Bears, Rick Cameron, on the call.
