Mercer hosts Wofford in the Bears SoCon opener
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer University baseball team returns to OrthoGeorgia Park this weekend to face Wofford in a Southern Conference Showdown. The three game-series will start Friday night at 6 p.m.

Wofford comes into the conference series with the Bears holding a 13-7 overall record and a 2-1 mark in the Southern Conference. The Terriers have won their last three contests and a coming off a 5-1 victory over Davidson on Tuesday night.

Lawson Hill leads the way at the plate for the Terriers. He is hitting .311 with nine doubles. Colin Davis is second on the team with a .303 batting average and a team high 15 RBI. Davis has 11 extra-base hits including seven doubles and three home runs.

Batting Practice
- Mercer opens up Southern Conference play this weekend against Wofford. The Bears were scheduled to open play last weekend but because of COVID-19 protocols within the Western Carolina program, the games were postponed.
- Since the 2010 season, Mercer have won the most games out of all the Division I Baseball teams in Georgia. The Bears have won 405 games, and are the only team to have 400 wins during this stretch.
- The Orange & Black are hitting .307 in 13 home games at OrthoGeorgia Park. They have tallied 55 extra-base hits on the season with 30 doubles and 24 home runs.
- Collin Price enters the weekend with a 10-game hitting streak, which started on March 10. During his hitting streak, Price has had six multi-hit performances.
- With Tuesday's win over Georgia State, Mercer stretched its winning streak to six straight games. The Orange & Black continued to have late inning heroics, picking up the go-ahead runs in the top of the ninth inning.
- The Bears lead the Southern Conference with 41 doubles, which ranks 17th in the NCAA. Mercer is averaging 2.05 doubles per game, the 49th best mark. Eleven different Bears have hit a double, and the team is led by Angelo DiSpigna's eight two-base knocks.
- RJ Yeager has started every game at shortstop since he arrived on campus as a freshman. He has currently started 160 consecutive games. Yeager will make his 161st career start on Friday.
- Mercer was picked to finish second in the 2021 Preseason SoCon Coaches and Media Polls. The Bears were picked behind Samford in both polls.
- Mercer is one of just four NCAA Division I programs to win at least 35 games in each of the past 10 full seasons, joining LSU, Florida State and Vanderbilt.
- Since 2010, the Bears are the winningest Division I baseball program in the state of Georgia. The Bears have won 401 games, seven more than Georgia Tech who is second on the list.
