Bears, Eagles set for 6 p.m. at OrthoGeorgia Park
MACON, Ga. – Mercer looks to defend its home turf as it welcomes in-state opponent Georgia Southern to OrthoGeorgia Park on Wednesday at 6 p.m. for a midweek nonconference clash.

The Bears (15-1) are off to their best start in school history and are looking to win their ninth in a row. Mercer won the last meeting against Georgia Southern on May 18, 2021 at OthoGeorgia Park by a final score of 5-1.Â

It has been hard to score runs on the Bears this year as the pitching staff has been dominate during the 2022 season. Mercer ranks seventh in the country with a 2.35 team ERA. Nine pitchers for Mercer who have pitched in 7 or more innings have an ERA below 4.00. The pitching unit has four shutouts on the year which is the second most in Division 1.Â
Offensive Power
Offensively, the Bears are one of the top teams in the nation. Mercer is in the top twenty in the country in the following categories:Â
Leading the offensive charge is sophomore outfielder Colby Thomas. Thomas leads the SoCon in doubles with 18 (tied with teammate Bill Knight), homeruns with 7, and runs with 25.   Thomas also ranks in the top 20 in the country in those categories, while leading the country in runs. Â
