Mercer to compete in weekend event hosted by Notre Dame

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's golf team begins its March matchups at the Glover Cup hosted by Notre Dame in Mesa, Arizona from this Friday to Sunday.

THE COURSE:
The Clover Cup will be hosted by Longbow Golf Club, located in Mesa, Arizona. Longbow Golf Club first opened in 1997 and the complete redesign was unveiled in the fall of 2003. The redesign included a striking new clubhouse, expanded acreage and totally revamped practice facility. The 18-hole, three-day event will be Par 72 at 6,1684 yards.

LAST TIME OUT:
The Bears finished 10th in the Florida State Matchup that occurred through Feb. 25-27 ahead of Missouri and Middle Tennessee. Kate Song personally finished T-12th at the event shooting 70,77,75, in her three rounds in Tallahassee. Song's first round recorded four birdies in the afternoon. The Alpharetta, Ga. freshman will look to emulate said success as the team travels to Arizona this weekend.

COACH DRINKARD'S TAKE:
"Will be a bit surreal to be back in Arizona and compete in the Clover Cup. Back on March 12, 2020, we were playing a practice round at Longbow Golf Club when the ACC canceled all sports including this tournament for Covid and then soon after all collegiate sports were canceled. To return in these new circumstances is truly a privilege for the team.

This will be our third tournament of the spring and really like the progress we are making as a group. Longbow is a fun golf course to play and look forward to putting together some good rounds and compete in this strong field of teams."
