Tuesday Trip to Tallahassee

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Mercer Baseball team will travel to finish a three-game set with FAMU on Tuesday evening.

Mercer swept their first SoCon series over The Citadel this past weekend and will be looking to complete the sweep of the season series against the Rattlers at Moore-Kittles Field.

The Bears enter the contest with a 27-5 record.
The Orange and Black have the most wins in the Southern Conference this year and only two other programs have 20 or more wins in the conference.
The Bears are coming into the game as 23 in this week's RPI, Wofford is the next closest SoCon team at 32.
Mercer is 2-0 against Florida A&M this season and has won twelve straight games in the series.
Craig Gibson owns a 58-12 record against Florida A&M. The 58 wins are his most against a single opponent in his tenure as a head coach.
The Bears' last road game against Florida A&M came on March 17, 2021 with a 10-6 victory for Mercer.
Left-hander Tanner Hall is expected to start on the mound for Mercer. Hall has started five games for the Bears this season. This will be Hall's first midweek start of the year. His last start came on March 26 against Utah.
Mercer has slugged 59 home runs in 32 games during the 2022 season, the sixth-most in the nation. Colby Thomas leads the team with 14 home runs which is the fourth-best in the country.

Mercer leads the SoCon with the lowest ERA of 3.39 and ranked 13^th in the country. Jackson Kelley leads the team and is in the Top 10 in the country with a .30 ERA.
Mercer currently leads the conference with 342 strikeouts this season. Mercer is led by Josh Harlow, who has 59 Ks this season. Kelley follows with 48. Mercer has 12 pitchers that have tallied double-digit punchouts on the year.
Mercer leads the conference in multiple categories such as hits, RBI, runs scored, OBP, walks and home runs.
Mercer is one of just three NCAA Division I programs to win at least 35 games in each of the past 11 full seasons, joining LSU and Vanderbilt.

Scouting FAMU
The Rattlers enter Tuesday with a three-game win streak, having most recently swept Bethune-Cookman in a SWAC series in Daytona Beach. At 15-18 overall, Florida A&M is led by a trio of batters hitting above .300, including Grant Rowell who leads the team with a .345 batting average. Rowell also leads the team in homers and runs batted in.

On the mound, Florida A&M comes into the game with 6.12 team ERA and allowing opposing batters to hit .308 off their pitching staff. Hunter Veits leads the Rattlers with a 3.09 ERA and has struck out 44 batters in 46.2 innings of work.
