Sweeping the Spartans on Saturday

Mercer earns the sweep in Greensboro, 20-10.
The Bears (31-5, 6-0 SoCon) belted five home runs in the squad's 12th consecutive win and sixth series sweep of the spring.
Angelo DiSpigna blasted two homers and drove in six runs to pace Mercer's offensive outburst. The Lawrenceville native hit a two-run shot in the third inning and added a three-run bomb in the sixth. Colby Thomas set the tone, homering on the second pitch of the game. It marked his 16th home run of the season and seventh in the month of April.
The Bears jumped out to a 10-0 lead after scoring eight times in the second inning.
Bill Knight hit a three-run homer that put Mercer up 5-0 early in the second. That homer was followed up by Treyson Hughes' grand slam later in the frame.
The Spartans (14-22, 0-6 SoCon) scored three runs in both the second and third innings to trim the lead to 12-6.
Knight's sacrifice fly in the fourth, pushed the advantage to seven runs.
The Bears struck for five runs in the sixth on Thomas' two-run double and DiSpigna's second homer of the game.
UNCG plated three runs in the bottom of the inning, but it was the last tallies of the day for the hosts.
Mercer capped the scoring in the top of the seventh with two runs on a sacrifice fly by Thomas and Collin Price's walk with the bases loaded.
In all, the Bears racked up 12 hits in the win. DiSpigna and Thomas both finished with three hits apiece. Thomas drove in four runs. Knight had two hits and 4 RBIs, while Hughes also finished with four runs driven in.

Fred Wilson (3-0) received the win after 2.1 innings out of the bullpen.
Spartans starter Caleb Freeman (0-3) took the loss after giving up the two first-inning runs.

Mercer will travel up I-75 Tuesday to Atlanta for a mid-week showdown with Georgia Tech.
